Lyn K. Fu

Lyn K. Fu, Partner/Owner

Lyn Fu has spent her career working with engineering and construction firms and technology and software licensors. She has served as an integral part of client legal teams or in many instances working independently to fulfill general counsel type responsibilities. Lyn has actively worked within the Energy & Chemicals Industries, especially with Refining and Petrochemical technology businesses, assisting clients in strategy development for protection of intellectual property and development and negotiation of licensing contracts related to the monetization of technology assets. She has experience in the development and transfer of new technology, as well as the licensing of established technologies worldwide (particularly in China, Japan, Russia, Brazil, the UAE and the KSA).

Lyn has counseled clients on doing business in China and the Middle East as well as related risk management issues. As part of her practice, Lyn has structured several domestic start-up companies, advising on corporate governance and legal matters as well as contracting philosophy and strategy. She has conducted due diligence efforts focusing on corporate governance and project agreements and has taken an active role in the acquisition of major upstream and downstream companies representing both buyer and seller.

Lyn has worked in international law firms in Taipei, Taiwan and in Bangkok, Thailand and has a working proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and an elementary proficiency in spoken Thai.

Lyn is a native Houstonian and received her undergraduate degree (B.A. Economics and B.A. Asian Studies) from Rice University in 1994 and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1998. Lyn gained admission to the Texas State Bar in 1998, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association.
